This also tied into the larger theme of change that was part of Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling's story, and while there's a small chance creator Joe Murray could revisit the series someday, he feels the special might be the finale. The special also received praise for its handling of the reveal that Ralph Bighead from the original series had transitioned and is now Rachel Bighead. It found a way to bring Rocko's Modern Life's characters into the 21st century that was both fresh and nostalgic. While reviving beloved shows can be a very tricky prospect, Static Cling was greeted with near-universal great reviews for both its humor and warmth. Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling actually started as a planned Nickelodeon special, but it was later sold to Netflix instead. That extends to the special not being available to rent or purchase from the likes of iTunes or Google Play either, and it can currently only be found on Netflix. Subscribers to Amazon Prime or Hulu are out of luck if they want to watch the special, since Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling is a Netflix exclusive.

The show began in 1993 and ran for four seasons, coming to an end in 1996. Rocko's Modern Life also dealt with more adult issues and themes, including immigration and the stresses of working life. This included gags clearly aimed at more adult viewers, with the showrunners seemingly taking delight in seeing how far the boundaries could be pushed. Rocko's Modern Life is one of those kid shows that reveled in its somewhat ugly art style and being as gross as possible. The show follows the title character, an Australian wallaby adjusting to life in the U.S., with the series twisting regular grown-up problems and blowing them up to nightmarish proportions. While Rocko's Modern Life wouldn't be as acclaimed as the likes of SpongeBob Squarepants or Hey Arnold!, it still received a well-deserved cult following.
